Church Ministries

Ladies of Grace

The purpose of our women’s ministry is to empower our ladies to be overcomers by encouraging, equipping, and edifying. We do this by getting together with each other during events from prayer services and devotions to talking over a cup of tea. We know that we need each other to stir up our faith in the Lord and testify of God’s goodness and mercy. Check the GCC calendar to get in on the latest Ladies of Grace activities.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved with the Women’s Ministry at Grace, feel free to contact Christa Barnes by email at cbarnes@gccsalem.org.

Men's Ministry

Men’s Ministry at Grace is committed to influence men to be the honorable leaders God has called them to be…in their homes, in their church, and in their community. Iron sharpens iron and we want to help men grow in their relationship with God and build deep friendships with other godly men. A natural result of this is spiritually stronger husbands, fathers, families, and churches. Our purpose is to challenge one another to serve God and our church in a greater capacity.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved with the Men’s Ministry of Grace, email Mike Smith at grace@gccsalem.org

ABF / Sunday School

Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF) and Sunday School Classes are held from 9:30-10:15 every Sunday morning. During this time we have age-appropriate classes for children through high school as well as classes designed with life applicable lessons for adults. These ABF classes are subject-based and typically change every 6-12 weeks. ABF’s provide an atmosphere where you can develop relationships of genuine concern and commitment to one another, dig deeper, ask questions, and engage in a dialogue about the truths in God’s Word. Bring your Bible and join us for a cup of coffee…make ABF and Sunday School a part of your Sunday worship experience.

For more information about ABF/Sunday School, email cbarnes@gccsalem.org.

Grace Worship Ministry

Grace Community Church is blessed with one of the most anointed worship teams you can find. One thing that helps to set them apart is their heart for worship. The vision of our Worship Team, led by Willie White, is to usher in the Presence of God and lead our congregation in a true experience of worshipping the King of Kings.

Junk Band

Junk is comprised of students that are committed to living outside the box of tradition. The Junk Band uses ordinary objects, such as ladders, trash cans, buckets, and more to create a musical troupe. Junk illustrates the principle that Jesus can use His grace to transform the junk in our lives into a powerful testimony. Our Junk Band is a greatly sought after ministry that performs in several events throughout the year.

Drama Team

The Drama Team demonstrates an expressive form of communication. Our youth perform skits and human videos for our church and in our community. This is a great opportunity for students to use their talents to show the light of Jesus in Salem.

Worship Band

Grace Community Church is blessed to have a powerful youth worship band. The worship band is an important part of each service the student’s experience. This has proven to be an opportunity for our youth to develop and use their musical talents. Every week this student-led worship band leads the youth into the Presence of God.

Grace Worship Ministry

GCC is blessed with one of the most anointed worship teams you can find. One thing that helps to set them apart is their heart for worship. The vision of our Worship Team, led by Willie White, is to use our instruments, voices, and talents to glorify God and usher in His Presence.  There are plenty of venues in which musicians perform music, but this isn’t one of them. Performance draws attention to man, but worship draws attention to God and that is our purpose!

Our Hospitality Team is the HEART of our church.  It’s so much more than just shaking hands and passing out bulletins.  The Hospitality ministry sets the stage for every person’s experience at Grace.  The majority of people who come to our church will decide within the first thirty seconds whether they are going to come back or not and YOU are their first impression.  You are the face of Grace as you greet and welcome people as they come in the door. We desire to show the love of God to each person and connect!

Grace Kids

Blessed Beginnings

Every service we have committed volunteers ready to care for your infants and toddlers in our Blessed Beginnings Nursery Room. This nursery provides a caring, safe and dependable environment made just for your little one. Blessed Beginnings is not just a nursery service. Our nursery team incorporates games, stories and activities to teach the youngest here at Grace that God loves them and they are a special creation. (Ages 0-2)

Sonshine Gang

During morning worship, our toddlers have a power-packed service in the Children’s Learning Center (CLC). This service is designed for kids to have fun and keep their attention, but also to realize that God has an important plan for their lives. Our desire is to impact our youngest to discover Grace! (Ages 3, 4, and 5)

Kids’ Church

Our goal is to impact our elementary students with a biblical worldview that will inspire them to be world changers! Children will help investigate the truth each Sunday morning, through the exciting Faith Case curriculum helping our kids to have fun while learning that they are never too young to have a relationship with Jesus! (Kindergarten- sixth grade)

High Point Kids

Every Wednesday evening we have ministries available for children ranging from birth to 12 years of age through our Children’s Department. Kids participate in worship and a weekly Bible adventure through the high-energy High Point program!

Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ)

JBQ was created and designed to help children develop a love for the Bible and an understanding that its truth can guide their lives daily. JBQ offers an exciting way to motivate children to learn the word of God. Our JBQ Teams meet regularly at the church for practice. During the fall and winter months, they compete monthly with other churches all over the state.

Boy’s and Girl’s Missionary Challenge (BGMC)

BGMC is a missions program through the Assemblies of God for children that instills a heart of compassion to reach the lost through praying, giving, and going. Throughout the month our kids are encouraged to save their pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters for a special BGMC missions offering. The second Sunday of every month is considered Missions Sunday at Grace and the kids participate in their missions giving.

Senior Adult Ministry

Young At Heart

The Young at Heart group caters to those 55 and above. This group has a fellowship event on the second Thursday of every month in the Gathering Place and other scheduled special events. We are privileged at Grace to have such a devoted group of people that love Jesus and love each other. If you have not experienced this group, make plans to attend Young at Heart’s next event!

Senior Care Center Ministry

GCC has an Adult Ministry group that reaches out to the community of Salem on a weekly basis. Every Tuesday this team travels to a different Senior Care Center to spend time with the residents and minister the love of Jesus. Playing music, singing and devotions are all part of these Senior Care Center trips.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved with our Adult Ministry, feel free to contact our Senior Adult Ministry Leader, Shirley Bergner, at grace@gccsalem.org.

Public Safety Ministry

The Public Safety volunteers of Grace Community Church work with emergency response people who have an interest in the safety of our members and guests. While in the facility of Grace, you can engage in worship with the comfort of knowing that the Public Safety Team at Grace is present to help the public in whatever capacity it can.

Public Safety is a great opportunity for men 18 years old and over to work with others in service to the congregation of Grace. To learn more about Public Safety, email Loren Wood at

grace@gccsalem.org.

Intercessory Prayer

Jesus was an intercessor while He was here on earth. He prayed for those who were sick and possessed by demons. He prayed for His disciples. He even prayed for you and me when He interceded for all those who would believe on Him. He now serves as our intercessor in Heaven. At Grace Community Church we want to do our best to follow the model that Christ left for us in every area of life including prayer. The Intercessory Prayer Ministry is vital to our success in ministry. Currently we have a Ladies’ Prayer Group that meets every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary.

If you have a desire to become part of the prayer groups, please contact our church office at 573-729-4573.

Prison Ministry

We cherish the opportunities to share the Grace of God to those without hope. Our prisons are filled with people who need to hear about Jesus. Grace Community Church’s Prison Ministry reaches out to those who are incarcerated. This ministry is directed by Nanci Wisdom who effectively ministers to the lives of inmates at the South Central Correction Center in Licking, Missouri, on a weekly basis. There is also a special Sunday evening service at the prison as often as possible.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved with the Prison Ministry, you may reach the church office at cbarnes@gccsalem.org

Intercessory Prayer

Prayer is an amazing opportunity to team up with the Holy Spirit, our helper, and be led to pray out the mysteries of God each and every day.  We believe the statement by Arthur Matthews that “The spiritual history of a church is written in its prayer life,” and it’s our intention to write a history full of the demonstration of the power and presence of God at GCC.  Join us for Ladies’ Prayer on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary or for Intercessory Prayer at 7 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month.
